UniBook Official Rules
IMPORTANT NOTICE
For a limited period, UniBook will operate as a bulletin board where students can upload their study materials and browse those shared by others. During this phase, payments and shipping are not yet active: students may contact each other via chat and arrange personal exchanges outside the platform.
All the rules and conditions set out in this document are valid and binding from the moment of registration. Provisions concerning payments and shipping will apply as soon as UniBook becomes fully operational as a complete peer-to-peer marketplace.
1. Definitions and Scope
These Rules govern the use of the UniBook platform (“Platform”), a peer-to-peer marketplace for the sale and purchase of university books and notes between private users.
For the purposes of this document:
- User: any natural person registered on the Platform;
- Seller: a user offering for sale books or notes in compliance with the Rules;
- Buyer: a user purchasing such goods;
- Content: texts, images, descriptions, and materials uploaded by users.
2. Registration and Account Use
- Only private users who are 18 years old or older at the date of registration may register.
- The user undertakes to provide truthful and up-to-date information.
- The user is responsible for safeguarding their access credentials and for any activity carried out through their account.
- UniBook reserves the right to warn or delete an account if it detects inappropriate behavior, not in compliance with these Rules or with the General Terms and Conditions of Contract.
3. Purpose of the Platform
UniBook is a peer-to-peer marketplace that allows users to publish and purchase university books and notes. The Platform operates as an intermediary, through a mandate without representation (Art. 1705 of the Italian Civil Code), between sellers and buyers, without assuming the role of a direct party to the sales contract.
4. Sales and Purchase Rules
- It is permitted to sell only:
- Legally purchased books;
- Personal notes, written by the user themselves, free of copyright protections and of third-party content.
- It is prohibited to sell:
- Counterfeit products or products of unlawful origin;
- Slides, notes, or materials created by other people;
- Books purchased illegally or without a legitimate right to sell.
- UniBook reserves the right to remove listings that violate these rules.
- The purchase of notes is instantaneous: once payment is made, the buyer can immediately download the material.
- If within 24 hours from the purchase of notes the buyer does not open a dispute or confirm the order, the order is considered automatically confirmed and the payment is transferred to the seller, minus UniBook’s commission.
5. Prices, Commissions, and Payments
- The selling price is determined by the seller.
- A variable commission of between 5% and 10% of the price set by the seller is charged to the seller.
- Payments are processed exclusively through Stripe; shipments are carried out through Packlink.
- Commissions due to UniBook are automatically withheld and the remaining amount is transferred to the seller only after order completion, as provided by the order management system (see Art. 7).
6. Shipping and Delivery
- The seller must prepare and ship the order within a reasonable time and in accordance with the Platform’s instructions.
- Shipments are made through Packlink Pro, an efficient, secure system operating throughout Italy, including islands.
- The cost of a single shipment is €5.99.
- The seller is responsible for the correct preparation and packaging of the product, ensuring its integrity.
- The seller must print and apply the provided label and deliver the package to a Packlink partner drop-off point.
- Packlink will deliver to the address provided by the buyer in the shortest possible time compatible with the service.
7. Code of Conduct and Order Timelines
- Users must maintain proper and respectful behavior towards other members of the Platform.
